Moss Ball Care Guide

10-Step Guide to Happy Marimo:

1. Keep them cool:
Place your marimo moss balls in cool fresh water, keeping the temperature below 77°F.  They thrive in cool, low light conditions, so keep them away from direct sunlight.

2. Water Refresh:
Every two weeks to a month, change the water for a clean and refreshing environment. Tap water, well water, distilled water, or even rainwater – they're not too picky! A happy home makes for happy marimos!

3. Keep it Clean:
Keep an eye out for residue on the water's surface or on the edge of the container. If it shows up, grab a brush and give the container a gentle scrub. Clean surroundings, happy marimos!

4. No Extra Snacks Needed:
Marimo moss balls are self-sufficient. They create their own food through photosynthesis, so no need for extra fertilizer. Just let them soak in the sunlight in low and indirect light areas.

5. Slow and Steady:                                    Marimos grow at a leisurely pace of 5 millimeters per year. In containers, they reach 2 to 5 inches, and in the wild, they can stretch to 8 to 12 inches. No rush, they're in it for the long haul!

6. Brown Blues:
If your marimo turns brown from too much or too little light, fear not! A bit of balance is key. Rotate them gently to ensure every side gets its fair share of sunlight. If you keep you moss ball in a heavily lit area, try moving it to a place with less light. Alternatively if you keep it in a very dark area, try moving it to a place with a bit more sun.

7. Air Bubble Woes:
Sometimes marimos get a bit floaty due to trapped air bubbles. Just give them a gentle squeeze – pop goes the bubble! They'll gracefully sink back to the bottom in a couple of days.

8. Shape Matters:
If your marimo loses its form, it might be craving a little swirl. Mimic their natural habitat by gently swirling them in the water. A bit of motion keeps them happy and round. Swirl them around gently in their bowl to recreate the natural wave motion they adore. A little love and attention go a long way!

9. Propagation Play:
Feeling adventurous? Moss balls may naturally propagate (create babies!) Look out for little nubs poking out of your mossling. Eventually, it will pop off and begin growing all on its own!

10. Love and Swirls:
Lastly, shower your marimo moss balls with love. Swirl them around gently in their bowl to recreate the natural wave motion they adore. Plop a few ice cubes into the water every now and then to keep your pet cool and happy. A little pampering can go a long way.
